These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Jamhuri Errand Services ("Jamhuri," "we," "us," "our"), including our website, booking platform, and errand-running services in Nairobi and surrounding areas of Kenya. By booking an errand, creating an account, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Our services
Jamhuri Errand Services provides errand-running, delivery, queueing, and on-behalf sourcing services, including but not limited to: government office errands, banking and bill payments, deliveries and pickups, hospital and pharmacy errands, sourcing of goods, kids drop-off/transport, corporate errands, and moving/house-hunting assistance. Services are provided by vetted runners assigned through our platform.
2. Booking & account
- Bookings are made through our website (jamhurierrandservices.co.ke) and require accurate contact details, pickup/drop-off information, and a description of the errand.
- Some features (such as "My bookings" and order tracking) require signing in with a Google account. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
- We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking that is unclear, unsafe, fraudulent, or falls outside the scope of services we offer.
3. Payment, deposits & pricing
- Most plans require a 30% deposit paid online via M-Pesa at the time of booking, with the remaining 70% balance paid directly to your assigned runner via M-Pesa or cash upon completion of the errand.
- Kids Drop-off bookings are paid in full at the time of booking.
- Custom/quote-based errands (e.g. On-Behalf Sourcing, some Corporate errands) are quoted individually before payment is requested.
- Prices displayed on our website are in Kenyan Shillings (KSh) and may be updated from time to time without prior notice; the price confirmed at the time of booking applies to that booking.
- For sourcing/purchase errands, payment for the goods themselves is made directly to the seller/vendor by you or arranged separately — Jamhuri's fee covers the errand-running service, not the cost of goods purchased on your behalf, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Cancellations & refunds
- You may cancel a booking before a runner has been assigned for a full refund of any deposit paid.
- Once a runner has been assigned and has begun travelling to the pickup location, cancellations may be subject to a partial deduction to cover the runner's time and transport costs.
- No refund is provided once an errand has been completed.
- Refunds, where applicable, are processed back to the original M-Pesa number used for payment within a reasonable timeframe.
5. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate pickup/drop-off locations, contact details, and a clear description of the errand.
- Ensure you have the legal right to request the errand (e.g. for document collection, banking errands, or sourcing purchases).
- Be reasonably reachable by phone/WhatsApp during the errand window so your runner can reach you with updates or questions.
- Provide any necessary authorization letters, IDs, or documents required for errands involving government offices, banks, or third parties who may require proof that you've authorized Jamhuri to act on your behalf.
6. Prohibited items & errands
Jamhuri does not knowingly handle errands involving:
- Illegal goods, substances, or activities under Kenyan law
- Firearms, weapons, or explosives
- Large sums of cash beyond what's reasonably needed for the errand, without prior arrangement
- Items requiring specialized handling licenses we do not hold (e.g. certain regulated pharmaceuticals)
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue any errand that we reasonably believe falls into a prohibited category.
7. Liability & loss/damage
- We take reasonable care in handling all items, documents, and funds entrusted to us during an errand.
- In the event of loss or damage directly caused by runner negligence, Jamhuri's liability is limited to the documented value of the item(s) involved, up to a maximum equivalent to the total price paid for that specific errand, unless a higher value was declared and agreed in writing before the errand began.
- Jamhuri is not liable for delays, losses, or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to traffic, weather, third-party office closures/delays (e.g. government offices, banks), or actions of the customer or third parties.
- For high-value items or sensitive documents, we recommend informing your runner and our support team in advance so appropriate care can be arranged.
8. Sourcing & on-behalf purchases
- For "Sourcing on your behalf" errands, we source, compare, and facilitate purchases based on your instructions. Final purchasing decisions and payment for goods are your responsibility, made directly to the seller, unless otherwise agreed.
- We are not responsible for defects, warranty issues, or disputes relating to goods purchased from third-party sellers — these should be resolved directly with the seller. We will assist in good faith where reasonably possible.
9. Kids drop-off & transport services
- Kids drop-off bookings must be made by a parent or legal guardian, who confirms they have the authority to arrange transport for the child/children listed.
- Accurate information about the child, pickup/drop-off locations, and any relevant safety or medical information must be provided at the time of booking.
- Runners assigned to kids drop-off errands are expected to follow reasonable safety practices; parents/guardians remain responsible for authorizing who may collect the child at each end of the journey.
10. Runner conduct & safety
Our runners are expected to conduct themselves professionally, handle your belongings and information with care, and communicate clearly throughout the errand. If you experience an issue with a runner's conduct, please report it to us via WhatsApp or email so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
11. Privacy & data
We collect and use personal information (such as your name, phone number, email, and location details) solely to fulfil your bookings, communicate updates, and improve our service. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Information shared with runners is limited to what's necessary to complete your errand.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
